CASE STUDY - CHARLENE

“Habyts makes screen time and chores hassle-free!”

Here is how Charlene used Habyts to set tasks and rewards for her kids.

Life Before Habyts

My main concern for my kids was that I didn’t want their heads stuck in their devices all of the time! I wanted less kid friendly technology out there, and I didn’t want them going on sites they should not. So, I was handling screen time by just telling them to get off their devices or taking them away entirely. The talking back and negative attitude when they didn’t get their own way was a problem, though.

Life After Using Habyts

“After using Habyts, what I like most is the fact that it is easy to turn off the access to my kid’s devices. There is no hassle and the app takes the strain off my relationship with them. The reason I want to keep using Habyts? Because it’s hassle free!”

How We Did It

Tasks

Charlene used Habyts Tasks to set her kids tasks such as take out the trash. After adding or selecting a Task from the dashboard by clicking ‘Edit’, you can then set the Tasks rules.

  1. Choose how often the Task has to be completed.
  2. Select a due time.
  3. Decide whether to set your kids a reminder, pause Play Time until the Task is completed, set parent approval or award points.

Why did you rate Tasks 5/5?

“Because it gives the kids incentives to do what they are supposed to do.”

Rewards

Charlene used Habyts Rewards to give her kids an incentive. More points meant more TV time. In the Rewards section, you can add any reward you like. When you give the reward, the number of points will be deducted from their Habyts bank.

To earn points, you can add / subtract points manually in the rewards section or set Tasks that your child has to complete.

Why did you rate Rewards 5/5?

“Again…it all came down to incentive.”
